Tech trees completely unlocked plus 25 more tablets and I've skipped taking some others as well, and I still have yet to find any seed pods other than potatoes or beetroot. I've ranged out to 9000+ meters and looked as well as around 5k and still nothing to try to grow other than these two crops.
