I have a proposition for you devs. You know the unlimited map of Mars can't continue - your game, nor no game for that matter can handle unlimited map. Also, in mapping and exploring all the named areas of the game, I dont think the game map needs to be much bigger anyways. Mars is supposed to be 22,000 Km around, but that's crazy. Your named areas fit into an area of about 10,000 M. Why not pick an area of 22000 Meters surrounding the z:0 X:0 and limit it there? I mean, currently you have features that are thousands of KM apart crammed into an area of 10,000 M, which is silly in itself. Also, don't we have a scale where 1 in game hour is actually a minute of real tima (1 second = 1 minute)? Does anyone have a problem with that scale? So what is wrong with the scale of 1M = 1 KM on Mars surface? It just makes sense, and I think the player base can handle it. Make a map limited to 22,000 M in any direction at max, and call it 22,000 Km. On the East to West direction, the Map should wrap around at the most extreme East or West Point. In the North and south direction, that is much tougher. Maybe make the cold weather get so bad, you tell the player that they can no longer travel further North or South from that point, as they have done in many other games. All I know is, after exploring way too much of the map in certain directions, I have such a big map that my game has slowed down to a crawl and is almost unplayable after 2years surviving on Mars. Please take my idea and suggestion seriously - the game needs a finite map and finite playspace!
