So the campaign led me to a couple kilometers away from my escape pod with little resources asking me to build a base. Admittedly, I have two broken vehicles to f around with. There is that. But with no chance for a fabricator it seems like I am screwed w/o ignoring the campaign and returning to the drop camp. That doesn't even address the inability to replenish O2 w/o the pod during this part of the campaign.
