Having recycling bins on the large and small shredders would be fantastic. When you throw things into the bins, resources are recovered. The idea for this comes to me for a simple reason: I throw ALL the things I no longer need, or that I want to make something else out of, into the shredders of the respective machines. What they do is quite simple: screws are turned back into iron, which I can then use to produce something else. WITHOUT having to mine iron every time. That's EXACTLY why I use the shredder rollers. The PROBLEM, however, is that they don't convert objects smoothly. Sometimes, things simply fall through the shredder rollers. Then the only options are to either forgo them or eventually dismantle the entire shredder and collect the parts that weren't recycled but fell through. Because I don't think they're really meant to be used that way. I still use them, though, because that's how things are recycled in the modern world, and it would be even more important on Mars. Therefore, I think it would be great if I could either throw things into the containers (where iron, calcium, and all that stuff ends up—screws, circuit boards, bottles, etc.) via the display control, and they would be recycled along with the rest, or if a container could simply be attached to the machines where these items could be thrown in and recycled.
